The Aspen Institute, one of the nation’s most renowned non-profits, reached out to Veracity Media to build the online presence for one of its Youth & Engagement programs called the Aspen Challenge. It provides a platform and inspiration for teams of high school students to design solutions to some of the world’s most critical problems, and showcase those solutions in a competition.. The project’s goal was twofold: revamp the Aspen Challenge’s website and migrate the program’s curriculum to an online learning platform.
Using compelling images, parallax effects, and a fun-yet-professional design, Veracity built a fresh, mobile-responsive website on the NationBuilder platform that easily lets staff update site content throughout the seven-week competition.
We then designed a robust, multi-city e-learning program using BlackBoard. Starting with the Aspen Challenge’s existing curriculum, Veracity designed an interactive digital learning program that used gamification, social media integration, data analytics, and discussion board features to engage students throughout the seven-week program. Veracity also provided in-person and online trainings and support to students, teachers, and Aspen Challenge staff.
With their new digital tools, the Aspen Challenge was able to interact with students at every step of the 2016 competition and provide ongoing feedback to help teams prepare for the final competition. In under a year, Veracity provided the Aspen Challenge with the tools necessary to transform their competition into a scalable, fully-digital program.
